Favorite Summer Sauvignon Blancs

I have to say I LOVE wine.  Not the super expensive expensive kind but the very reasonable everyday budget drinking ones.  I'm more of a red drinker than white but during the summer I love a good Sauvignon Blanc.  Light, crisp, and not overly sweet...delicious!

Here were my top 5 Sauvignon Blanc's of summer (AND all under $15!).
1. Kim Crawford ($12)

2. Nobilo   ($10)

3. Cupcake ($8)

4. Brancott ($10)

5. Fire Road ($12)

I generally don't know a lot about regions but I've noticed all of my favorites are from Marlborough, Australia!  Remembering that tip is also very helpful when looking for a wine on a list full of unfamiliar names.

Please share your favorites as well!  Cheers!

My New Bag!

I decided to take advantage of the Kate Spade secret sale and get myself a new bag for fall.  I decided on the Baxter Street Stevie in the denim color.  I'm usually not too crazy about buying bags online without trying them on and getting a feel but the deal was too good to pass up.  Originally it was $498 and it was on sale for $159!

Here it is:

So far I really LOVE the color, size, and multiple compartments.   The only con is that there is no zipper for the main compartment or even a magnet that would hold it together and I can see things easily falling out.   For the price, I still think I came out on top!

Banana Republic Friends and Family

It's that time of year again, the Banana Republic Friends and Family Sale! This time it is 50% off up to 5 items.  Its one of the many perks of being a Luxe card member.  The other biggest  and even better perk is free shipping on every order!

I stopped by the store last weekend and here's what I picked up!  Would have definitely purchased more but I was telling myself I needed to conserve and didn't actually "need" anything.   But then again...of course I "need" everything!

BR Whisper Cardigan in Modern Red
Love,  Love, Love...didn't want to take it off in the store.  The color, fabric, weight and its incredibly versatile.  I can almost see myself wearing the exact same outfit as the girl in the picture.
Claire Pleated Shell in Riviera Teal
I have to admit the color sold me on this one.  I love the new teal for fall.  Also, another versatile piece.  I can picture wearing it out to dinner or a bar with jeans or with a skirt or black pants to work.  Add a cardigan and it will last all winter.  Did you buy anything at this years sale?   What are your favorite BR items right now?

Saving the Earth - One Organic Swedish Fish at a Time

So I'm sitting here eating at work eating Swedish Fish and enjoying a nice cold Diet Pepsi searching around for all natural and organic body wash, lotion and face wash.  It might not make sense, I guess it really doesn't make sense, but whatevs for now.  Maybe once Amazon ships me this next order I'll ditch the processed foods.  Not likely.

Anyway - I tried out a few natural bath products recommended by my favorite blog, Young House Love, and loved all of them.  Here are a few of the products that I've tried and a few that I've just ordered.  Can't wait to try the new ones!

Avalon Nourish Shampoo, Lavender:  I have to say I did not love this at first.  I'm apparently missing the beauty of those nasty sulfates as this shampoo does not give you a rich lather.... at all.  Having longer hair I feel I need to use a bit more than I probably should just to 'feel' like it's doing the job.  I think I'll settle in with this though as it does leave my hair feeling clean, healthy and smelling great.  The lavender scent isn't too feminine either so my husband and I are able to both enjoy one bottle and save on multiple bottles in the shower.  AND to top this all off, I found a Target coupon for any Avalon product.  I printed a few off and they honored each one for each product I purchased!  Organic and relatively cheap!  Win Win!  Whoop!

Avalon Organics Conditioner, Lavender:  The partnering conditioner to the shampoo is fabulous.  I do not need much at all of this product to condition and detangle my hair.  The smell is great and again makes my hair feel very healthy.  I'll be sticking with this pair of Avalon products!

Avalon Vitamin C Refreshing Cleansing Gel:  Next up?  Yes, another Avalon product.  I had COUPONS!  I gave their face wash a try.  I've been using more expensive face washes (Origins and Bliss) and this was just fine comparatively.  I do miss the little beads and pretty bottle from Bliss and the nice foaming wash from Origins however this was Organic and Cheaper.  Win Win!  Hmm already said that....

Earth Science Clarifying Facial Wash:  Here is another face wash that I tried.  I think I preferred this one over Avalon however I will go with whichever is less per ounce as they were very comparable.

Jason Body Care Satin Shower Body Wash:  Moving on to body wash and from Target and Avalon (coupons were gone!) to Amazon and Jason.  I must have been on a Lavender kick.  This had a great smell, and I loooved that it had a pump.  It seems a product lasts a lot longer in my house when it takes an extra action of a 'pump' to get more opposed to just dumping a huge dollop out.

That wraps up the products that I have tried.  Here are a few that are on the way....

Alba Botanica Body Bath, Island Citrus:  I didn't switch from Jason Body Wash because I didn't like it enough.  I just figured I'd give Alba a try for two reasons... It is a little cheaper and you can Subscribe and Save through Amazon.  If we like this product - this will probably be on the monthly delivery schedule!

Desert Essence - Thoroughly Clean Face Wash:  Talk about risky!  I just ordered this bad boy.  It's a 32 ounce refill.  ($0.44 / ounce opposed to the $.85+ / ounce of the other two)  I still have a little face wash in both of the other containers so I'm going to fill 'em up with this and keep my fingers crossed.  Based on the reviews it should not disappoint.  If I don't like it - my husband will have face was for a very long time!

Alba Botanica Very Emollient Body Lotion, Unscented:  Another bit of a risk.  The reviews weren't great but the price was right and I needed to spend a few more dollars on Amazon to get free shipping and I'm almost out of lotion.  When I say I'm almost out of lotion I mean I really only have one container of lotion in my house (other than baby lotion).  A while back I committed to not buying anything until my random bottles were used up (even travel sized!).  It's great not having to store a ton of crap but then I put myself in a pinch when I really run out of things.  Anyway... I'll let you know what I think!

J. Crew Bubble Necklace

I've been dreaming of the J. Crew Bubble Necklace for a while now but never felt like pulling the trigger on the $150 splurge.  I decided to randomly to search on ebay to see if maybe there were some used or cheaper ones on there....well it was like hitting the lottery!  There are TONS of bubble necklaces on there for under $15.   The downside...direct from China so it felt a bit sketch but I decided it was worth the $11.75 with free shipping risk.  So here it is...direct from China about 3 weeks later.  I'm already thinking of ordering another color!   Thoughts?

Today's Steal

Today Neiman Marcus has a Kate Spade Stella Leaf-print dress on sale for $138 with free shipping.  It's a classic and more than 50% off the original price.  I don't have an event to wear it to but should I get it to keep in my closet?

Welcome to our Blog!

Alyson and I are best friends and old college roommates.   We both now have "real jobs" but wish we could spend our days shopping for our home or closets!  We have similar tastes but also very different.  We almost always each pick out a different favorite color of the same item.   She's a pepsi girl, I love coke.  She lives in PA, I live in VA.  If you follow us, I think you'll find something you'll like and we'll be sure to share any great deal we come across!
